I'll have to go with Steve Gillmor here who says that every tweet, etc is a marketing message. "Marketing" as a noun is rotten, but marketing as a verb is very very alive thanks to Google and micro-communities.

That's what I'm interested in here.

Do you really think that users will want to be interrupted by marketing-BS micro-objects over XMPP ?

Everything that marketers touch become rotten. Please, marketers stay far away from XMPP.

And marketing is dead anyhow.
